Every year our school holds an amazing auction. Each grade creates a collaborative piece of art to be auctioned off. The pieces turned out beautiful. Each preschool student painted on watercolor paper, which was cut out with a circle hole punch. Each kindergarten student placed a fingerprint on the canvas to create a dandelion. First grade students placed circle stampers with paint on a tree that were turned into birds. Second grade also painted with watercolor on paper, which was cut into hearts and placed on a tree as leaves. Third grade each designed a ladybug. Fourth grade finger painted specific color schemes that were cut into ovals then were glued into the shape of pineapples. Fifth grade each painted a building from the Chicago Skyline. Sixth grade used oil pastels to create brightly colored sea turtles. Seventh grade zentangled butterflies then painted them with watercolor. Eighth grade each added string to nail art to create a Chicago Cubs sign. Each project turned out so well thanks to the hard work of the students and parent volunteers.

The 5th grade students sketched a letter keeping in mind a flat base for the letter to stand. They drew the letter on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. They then traced that same letter onto another piece of cardboard. Using paper towel and toilet paper rolls cut into smaller pieces the students glued the two cardboard letters together to create a 3-D letter. Using paper mache they covered the letters. Once this was dry the letters were painted with acrylic paint.
The kindergarten students reviewed mosaics. They then created a torn paper mosaic heart. They chose which color they wanted to have as their border and tore the paper and glued it down. They then chose the color for the next row and continued until the heart was full.
The preschool students made love birds for Valentine's Day. They drew hearts with crayon on a pre-cut paper plate and painted it either blue or pink. They then used shapes to create their birds.
The kindergarten students used dippity-dye paper to trace a heart. They then used either warm or cool colors to color in their hearts. When their hearts were completely filled with color they laid the heart on a piece of white paper and sprayed it with a water bottle. When the the heart was wet they laid another piece of paper on top and pressed down. They ended up with a set of heart prints.
The 7th grade students learned about Zentangles. They then chose an animal and drew it's head. Next, using sharpie they sectioned off the animal then added different zentangles in each section. They used watercolor to complete their piece.
